Biography

German soprano Judith Spiesser completed her studies at Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich. She was a prizewinner at the Louis Spohr Competition in Kassel. Her stage debut took place in 2009 as Königin der Nacht in Qatar. Following engagements took her to Donizetti Festival in Bergamo, Simon-Mayr-Festtage, Pasinger Fabrik, Opernfestival Gut Immling in such roles as Adele in Die Fledermaus, Despina in Così fan tutte und Fauno in Ascanio in Alba.

In the season 2012/2013 Judith Spiesser was an ensemble member at Landestheater Neustrelitz, where she performed Königin der Nacht to great critical acclaim. She sang there also Anna Gomez in Der Konsul, Belotte in Madame Pompadour and Lisa in Gräfin Mariza. Guest appearances as Königin der Nacht have led her to Musiktheater im Revier in Gelsenkirchen and to Philharmonie am Gasteig in Munich. At Stadttheater Giessen she sang Germaine in Gustave Kerker's operetta Die Oberen Zehntausend - Tanz auf dem Pulverfass and at Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern her first Gilda in Rigoletto.

In 2016/2017 Judith Spiesser made a successful role debut as Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor at the festival Burgfestspiele des Niederbayerischen Landestheaters and returned to sing the role in Passau in 2017/2018.

Her concert repertoire includes Händel's Messias , Mozart's Exsultate, Jubilate and Mass in c minor as well as Brahms' Deutsche Requiem, which she performed alongside Wolfgang Brendel, under the baton of Hayko Siemens in Herkulessaal der Residenz, broadcast live by Bayerischer Rundfunk. She sang in Schumann's Das Paradies und die Peri under the baton of Enoch zu Guttenberg at Herrenchiemsee Festspiele and Rheingau Festival. She has recorded the role of Raguel in Simon Mayr's oratorium Tobias with Georgian Chamber Orchestra for the label Naxos and the soprano solo in J.S.Bach's cantata Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben for the label OEHMS Classics.
