Young emerging Finnish soprano Emma Kajander has achieved recognition at singing competitions in 2023, including 1st prize at the Singing Competition Havets röst in Mariehamn, Finland. She was finalist at the Timo Mustakallio Competition Savonlinna and was awarded a special prize for her Schubert interpretation at the Caj Ehrstedt Competition 2023. In January 2024 she was chosen to participate in the master class of Karita Mattila at the Wigmore Hall in London.
Emma Kajander is still studying at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki in the class of Outi Kähkönen. She began her studies at the Helsinki Conservatory of Music in 2019 with a graduation in 2022. Her roles in student productions have included Valencienne Die lustige Witwe at the Helsinki Conservatory and Papagena Die Zauberflöte at the Sibelius Academy. She is made her house debut in 2024 at the Finnish National Opera as Christine in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera. Her upcoming roles include a role debut as Pamina at The Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm.
