Young emerging Finnish soprano Emma Kajander made her house debut at the Finnish National Opera as Christine in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera in 2024. Her upcoming roles include a role debut as Pamina Die Zauberflöte at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm, Micaela Carmen and the Niece Peter Grimes at the Finnish National Opera, as well as Tebaldo Don Carlo for Tampere Opera. In 2028 she is scheduled to sing her first Mimi La Bohème.
As an avid concert singer, she is looking forward to concerts with Sibelius' Kullervo Symphony, Britten's Les Illuminations, Ravel's Shéhérazade, Händel's Messiah.
Emma Kajander is still studying at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki in the class of Outi Kähkönen. She began her studies at the Helsinki Conservatory of Music in 2019, with a graduation in 2022. Currently she is receiving coaching from Irina Gavrilovici. Her roles in student productions have included Valencienne Die lustige Witwe at the Helsinki Conservatory and Papagena Die Zauberflöte at the Sibelius Academy. In 2024 she was chosen to participate in the master class of Karita Mattila at the Wigmore Hall in London. In summer 2025 she attended the Georg Solti Academy in Italy. She has achieved success at several singing competitions, including 3rd prize at the Klaudia Taev Competition 2025, 1st prize at the Lappeenranta Singing Competition 2025, 1st prize at the Havets Röst Competition 2023, the Martti Talvela Prize 2024 and a Schubert prize at the Caj Ehrstedt Competition.
