South Korean tenor Alex Kim won 1st prize at the Klaudia Taev competition 2015 in Estonia and a year after 2nd prize at the first "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg" competition. He graduated with a Master’s degree from Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg in 2014 with the role of Tamino in Die Zauberflöte. He made his debut at Staatsoper Hamburg in 2016 as Eurymedes in Telemann’s Orpheus and sang there 2.Nazarener in Salome, Die Stimme des Jünglings in Frau ohne Schatten and the roles of Junger Seemann/Hirt in Tristan und Isolde, under the baton of Kent Nagano.
Alex Kim performed Alfredo in La Traviata at the PromFest 2017 in Estonia, a role, which he has sung at the IBK Hall in Seoul and at the Daegu Art Center in South Korea. He has appeared as Duca in Rigoletto at the Verdi Festival in Busseto in 2015 and performed the roles of Ferrando in Cosi fan tutte, Nemorino in L’Elisir d’amore, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor and Rodolfo in La Bohème with South Korean opera companies, such as the Korean National Opera, Knua Theatre in Seoul and the Gwang-ju Theatre.
Alex Kim joined the ensemble of the Staatstheater Nürnberg in autumn 2017 performing Rodolfo in La Bohème, Iopas and Hélénus in Les Troyens, Cassio in Otello, Camille de Rosillon in Die lustige Witwe and Arbace in Idomeneo.
