Young Ukrainian tenor Mykhailo Kushlyk was a leading soloist at Staatstheater Meiningen from September 2023 until December 2024. His roles there included Conte Almaviva Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Tamino Die Zauberflöte, Alfred Die Fledermaus, Walther von der Vogelweide Tannhäuser, 4. Jude Salome, Giovanni in the opera Una cosa rara by Vicent Martin i Soler as well as Osvald in the world premiere of Torstein Aagaard-Nilsen’s Gespenster.
In January 2024 he joined the ensemble of Aalto Theater Essen where he is performing roles, such as Ramiro La Cenerentola, Valentino in Louise Bertin's Fausto, Graf Falconi in Johannes Strauss' Karneval in Rom, Borsa Rigoletto, Pong Turandot.
In the 2022/2023 season he was a member of the opera studio at Staatstheater Nürnberg, where he sang Arnold in the world premiere of Anno Schreier’s Turing, Remendado Carmen and 2. brabantischer Edler Lohengrin.
Mykhailo Kushlyk studied at the National Music Academy in Lviv, Ukraine, receiving his Master’s degree in 2020. He continued his studies in Nürnberg obtaining another Master's degree in 2023. In student productions he has sung Paolino Il matrimonio segreto and excerpts of Nemorino L’elisir d’amore. Since 2019 he is part of the Young Talents’ Opera Academy at Teatr Wielki, Warsaw. There he participated in the opera pasticcio “Sekretne zycie obrazów” with music by Händel, Vivaldi and Monteverdi.
In concert he has sung Mozart’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Mass c major, Haydn's Nelsonmesse, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, Orff’s Carmina burana and Kurpinski’s Te Deum. In summer 2024 he sang Mozart’s Mass in c minor with Saarländisches Staatsorchester. His successes in competitions include 2nd prize at the Wassyl Slipak Competition 2021 and 3rd prize at the Solomia Krushelnytska Competition 2018.
