Rino Matafù made his recent role debuts as Fenton Falstaff at the Bulgarian National Opera, as well as Ernesto Don Pasquale at Teatro Toselli in Cuneo. He appeared as Rodolfo La Bohème at the Centro Cultural Amaia in Irun, Spain, and as Alfredo La Traviata at the Teatro Dal Verme in Milan. He sang his first Gustavo (Riccardo) Un ballo in maschera at the Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo. His upcoming commitments include Rodolfo La Bohème on a tour in the USA with the European Opera Theater.
Earlier roles have included Alfredo La Traviata on tour in France, as well as Duca Rigoletto, performed at the Royal Palace of Colorno and in Pavia. He sang the tenor solo in Rossini's Stabat Mater in the cathedral of Todi, organized by the Pavarotti Foundation. In 2022, he sang in the memorial concert of Carlo Bergonzi in Zibello. His American debut took place at the International Opera Center of America in Orlando as Duca Rigoletto, conducted by Bill Doherty and staged by Andrea Elena.
Rino Matafù began his musical studies at the Antonio Vivaldi Conservatory of Music in Alessandria. He continued to hone his skills under the guidance of tenor Andrea Elena. He won the 15th Spiro Argiris Competition at the Sarzana Opera Festival, as well as the Enzo Sordello Competition in Cuneo. In 2015, he made his stage debut as Edgardo Lucia di Lammermoor at the Teatro Cantero in Chiavari. The following season, he performed Ismaele Nabucco at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari.
