Biography
Australian-Hungarian soprano Audrey Gábor is making her German debut this season as Micaela Carmen and Angèle Didier Der Graf von Luxemburg with Theater Vorpommern. Her recent performances include Perseo in Michael Haydn's Andromeda e Perseo in concert with the orchestra Danubia Zenekar, soprano solos in Bach's Mass in b minor, Mozart's Requiem, Charpentier's Messe de minuit pour Noel and Kuhnau's Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern. She sang the role of Duemila in Katalin Szalai's new opera Interludi which at the Chamber Opera Festival in Eger, Hungary. She has collaborated with harpischordist Zsombor Tóth-Vajna on a series of recitals featuring the works of Henry Purcell.
Eearlier engagements include a role debut as Mimì La Bohème as well as the role of Berta Il Barbiere di Siviglia with the Müvész Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of György Gulyás Nagy. She has enjoyed fulfilling collaborations with various ensembles in Budapest as well as with the Szolnok, Alba Regia and Müvész Symphony Orchestras. Adding more roles to her repertoire with performances of Micaela / Frasquita Carmen, Despina Cosi Fan Tutte, Serpina La Serva Padrona, a.o. In the 2022-2023 season Audrey became a featured artist with the Andrea Rost Foundation performing the role of Contessa Le Nozze di Figaro with performances at the Solti Hall in Budapest and VeszprémFest. She received great critical acclaim for her performance with the National Ballet of Györ in their premiere of Peer Gynt where she sang the role of Solveig. She has performed works by J.S Bach, a.o. the Mass in b minor and the Coffee Cantata.She is a founding member of the Hungarian classical ensemble Trio Laudor featuring László Kéringer (tenor) and Orsika Pataki-Tóth (guitar/soprano).
Audrey was born in Sydney, where she completed her university studies and received a Bachelor of Music (Classical Voice) & Bachelor of Arts (Theatre and Performance) double degree.She continued her postgraduate studies in opera at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under the tutelage of Maree Ryan AM, Chair of Vocal and Opera Studies. During her time in Sydney, she debuted as Mercédès Carmen at the Sydney Opera House. In Australia she performed roles such as Susanna Le Nozze di Figaro, Laetitia The Old Maid and the Thief, Amore Orfeo ed Euridice, Beth in Adamo's Little Women, Juno Orphée aux enfers, La Paix in Campra's Tancrède and Ernestine Hill in Boyd's Daisy Bates at Ooldea. Since then she relocated to Hungary, where she made her European debut at the Hungarian State Opera in the 2016-2017 season in Samu Gryllus' vocal theatre work Two Women. Her debut was featured on the official cast recording released by OperaTrezor as part of the Hungarian State Opera's 200th jubilee. She remained a soloist as part of the State Opera's tour program until the 2019-2020 season.
