Biography

Polish mezzo-soprano Weronika Rabek has been an ensemble member at Theater Magdeburg since the 2022-2023 season. There her repertoire includes Cherubino Le nozze di Figaro, Annius La clemenza di Tito, Hänsel Hänsel und Gretel, Olga Eugene Onegin, Dryade Ariadne auf Naxos, Smeraldina/ Linetta Die Liebe zu drei Orangen, Cupido Orpheus in der Unterwelt, Chava Anatevka, Bessie Worthington Die Blume von Hawaii, Domina in Eugen Engel’s Grete Minde. Upcoming new roles include the title role of Carmen as well as Romeo I Capuleti e i Montecchi.

From 2019 until 2022 she was a member of the opera studio at Staatsoper Hannover where she performed Dritte Dame Die Zauberflöte, Mercédès Carmen, Sandmännchen/ Taumännchen Hänsel und Gretel, Suse in Marschner’s Der Vampyr, Flora in Britten’s The Turn of the Screw, Mezzo-soprano in Philip Venable’s and Ted Huffman’s chamber opera Denis and Katya, Prinzessin in Iris ter Schiphorst’s Die Gänsemagd, Vivienne in Evers’ Humanoid and Sängerin in Kagel’s Zählen und Erzählen.

Weronika Rabek made her stage debut in 2016 as Ramiro La finta giardiniera, followed by Medea in Cavalli’s Il Giasone with Haute école de musique de Geneve and Nino in Stradella’s Il Trespolo tutore at Teatr Collegium Nobilium in Warsaw. In 2023 she performed the title role of Vivaldi’s Juditha Triumphans with the Warsaw Chamber Opera. In concert she has sung Mozart’s Mass in c minor and Requiem, Bach’s Weihnachtsoratorium and Matthäuspassion, Händel’s Belshazzar, Vivaldi’s Stabat Mater, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and Lutos?awski’s 5 Songs after poems by K.I??akowicz.

In 2018 Weronika Rabek obtained a Master in early music at the Chopin Music Academy with Prof. Jadwiga Rappé, and subsequently a Master in Opera at Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien in Hannover in the class of Marek Rzepka. She won 2nd prize at the Ada Sari International Vocal Competition 2023 and reached the finals at the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang Berlin 2022. In 2019 she was awarded a special prize at the Paula-Salomon-Lindberg-Wettbewerb „Das Lied” in Berlin.
