Biography

Ukrainian mezzo-soprano Valeria Mudra joined the ensemble of Theater Erfurt in April 2022. She has made her role debuts as Flosshilde Das Rheingold, Mrs Sedley Peter Grimes, Flora La Traviata, Laura Luisa Miller, 3.Magd Elektra, Milia in Taylor's Eleni, Ismène in Rossini's Le siège de Corinthe, the title role of Gluck's Telemaco, Fenena Nabucco at the Domstufen Festival 2022, the mezzo-soprano solo in concert performances of Verdi's Requiem as well as Luna/ Tante Prinz in the new children's opera Die Stimme der Meerjungfrau by Ralph Neubert. This season her new roles include Hänsel Hänsel und Gretel, Ciesca Gianni Schicchi, Lola Cavalleria rusticana and she will participate in a staged production of Mendelssohn's Elias as well as in My fair lady and Jim Knopf und die wilde 13.

Until the Russian invasion in February 2022 she was a soloist at the Kharkiv National Opera. There she sang such roles as Clarica in Rossini’s La pietra del paragone, Mercedes Carmen, Olga Eugene Onegin, Polina The Queen of Spades, Feodor Boris Godunov, Laura and Marta Iolanta, Orfeo in Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice, Prince Charming Cendrillon and Ines Il Trovatore.

Valeria Mudra obtained her diploma in 2019 from the Ukrainian National Music Academy in the class of the Honoured Artist of Ukraine Angelina Shvachka. She has participated in a masterclass by Dolora Zajick. She won 2nd prize at the Oksana Petrusenko Competition 2013 in Kherson, 1st prize at the Ukrainian National Music Competition 2012 and diplomas at the Minsk International Christmas Competition 2015 and at the Klaudia Taev Competition 2019. She has sung solo parts in Mozart’s Requiem, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Michael Haydn’s Requiem and Alfred Schnittke’s Requiem with important orchestras, such as the Ukrainian National Philharmonic Orchestra.
