Biography

Italian baritone Italo Proferisce has performed a wide range of roles, among his performances Michonnet Adriana Lecouvreur at Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, Escamillo Carmen at Arena di Verona, Silvio I Pagliacci at Teatro Massimo in Palermo and at Harbin Opera House in China, Ping Turandot in Tokyo, Alfio Cavalleria rusticana and Tonio I Pagliacci at Art Center in Seoul, Figaro Le Nozze di Figaro at Verdi Teatro in Pisa and at Tianjin Grand Theater in China,Starek Jenufa at Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Alessandro di Macedonia in Vacchi's The Magic Mirror in the world premiere at Teatro dell' Opera in Firenze, Schaunard La Boheme at Teatro Massimo in Palermo and with Bangkok International Festival of Music & Dance, Aricia in Giordano's Giove a Pompei at the Umberto Giordano Theater in Foggia and at Marrucino Theater in Chieti, Archelaos in Zemlinsky's Der König Kandaules at Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville, Marek in Colombini's The Warsaw Ghetto in the world premiere at Verdi Theater in Pisa, Masetto Don Giovanni at the National Theater of Macedonia and with Bangkok International Festival of Music & Dance, Malatesta Don Pasquale at Teatro dell'Opera Romànà in Craiova, Sharpless Madama Butterfly at Teatro La Fenice and Il Padre Fortunato's Falcone e Borsellino at Teatro Verdi in Pisa.


Italo Proferisce started his musical education with piano before studying singing, first at the G. Martucci Conservatory in Salerno and then at the Conservatory G. Frescobaldi in Ferrara. He participated in masterclasses with Renato Bruson, Garbis Boyagian, Paolo Coni, Silvano Carroli, June Anderson, Gianni Maffeo, Alberto Gazale, Carlos Alvarez, Roberto Frontali and Franco Vassallo. He has performed in Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Maggio Fiorentino, Arena di Verona, Teatro Massimo in Palermo and worked with conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Nello Santi, Daniel Oren, Renato Palumbo, Pier Giorgio Morandi, Marco Guidarini, Pinchas Steinberg, Giacomo Sagripanti and others. He was awarded at the Rome Festival Opera Competition 2009, the City of Bologna Opera Competition 2009, the Toti Dal Monte Competition 2010, Scuola Dell 'Competition Italian Opera of the Municipal Theater of Bologna 2010 and the Anselmo Colzani Competition 2011.
