Biography

South Korean coloratura soprano Yun-Jeong Lee studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg. She was awarded at several competitions including Grand Prix at the Maria Callas Competition in 2009 and 1st prize at the Elise Meyer Competition.

After debuting at the Staatstheater Stuttgart as Amor (Gluck’s Orfeo) and Barbarina (Le Nozze di Figaro) she was invited to become an ensemble member at the Bern Opera House “Konzert Theater Bern” in 2013 and has sung a broad range of roles there, such as Blondchen, Ännchen, Zerbinetta, Die Königin der Nacht, Sidonie/Un Plaisir (Gluck’s Armide), Clorinda, Oscar and Hanako (T.Hosokawa’s Hanjo). Her plans for the season 2016/2017 include Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro) in Bern and Chiang Ch’ing (J.Adams’ Nixon in China) at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam.
