Biography

Finnish soprano Alina Koivula is completing her Master’s degree at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. She has performed Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Tytania in Britten’s Midsummer Night’s Dream, Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel and Nannetta in Falstaff with the Sibelius Academy Opera. She portrayed the role of Ave von Schönfeld in Kari Tikka’s opera Luther and appeared as Monica in Menotti’s Medium with Saaristo Opera in Turku. She also covered the roles of Donna Anna in Don Giovanni at Alexander’s Theatre in Helsinki and Christine in The Phantom of the Opera at the Finnish National Opera. In concerts at the Helsinki Music Centre she has sung Kaija Saariaho’s Leino Songs, the role of Ariel in Jean Sibelius’ Tempest and the soprano solo in Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy op.80.

Alina Koivula has excelled in competitions winning 2nd prize at the Timo Mustakallio Competition, 2nd prize at the Kangasniemi Singing Competition, 3rd prize at the Helsinki Lied Competition and received Special Prizes at the “Havets röst” Competition in Marienhamn and In Corpore Chamber Music Competition in Tallinn.
