Bulgarian soprano Petya Ivanova started her career at the National Opera Sofia debuting in the roles of Rosina, Lucia, Gilda and Oscar. In 2002 she became a resident artist at the Slovenian National Theatre in Maribor where her repertoire has included Violetta, Cunégonde (Candide), Adina, Nannetta, Queen of the Night, Norina, Olympia, Lakmé, Tytania (A Midsummer Night's Dream) a.o.
Her international breakthrough took place performing Queen of the night at Staatsoper Wien, Volksoper Wien and Staatsoper Hamburg. Guest appearances have taken her to Aalto Theatre in Essen, Oper Bonn, Tiroler Landestheater in Innsbruck, Theater Klagenfurt, Theater St.Gallen, Croatian National Opera Split, Teatro Verdi in Padua, Netherlands Reisopera, Oderzo Music Festival, Schwerin Opera Festival, Ljubljana Summer Festival a.o. She participated at the world premiere of Saverio Mercadante's opera I Briganti in the role of Amelia, which was performed at the Rossini Festival Bad Wildbad and recorded by Naxos in 2012. In the last years Petya Ivanova has added lyric roles, such as Mimi and Micaela to her repertoire.
