Biography

Hungarian mezzo-soprano Szilvia Vörös made her debut at the Hungarian State Opera in 2014 as 3rd maid in Richard Strauss’ Elektra. Since then she has been building up her repertoire in Budapest singing such roles as Fenena in Nabucco, Waltraute in Die Walküre, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly, Bersi in Andrea Chenier, Siebel in Faust and Romeo in I Capuleti e I Montecchi. In addition to her operatic roles, she regularly performs in oratorical works by Bach, Mozart, Rossini, Beethoven a.o. In 2016 she participated in the Young Singers Project in Salzburg singing alongside Anna Netrebko in Puccini’s Manon Lescaut and Placido Domingo in Massenet’s Thais.

Szilvia Vörös enrolled at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, graduating from the department headed by Éva Marton in 2008 with degrees in opera in 2013 and voice pedagogy in 2015. She was awarded Grand Prix at the International Éva Marton Singing Competition 2014 in Budapest, Special prize at Competizione dell’Opera 2015 in Linz and 1st prize at the József Simándy Singing Competition 2008 in Szeged.
