Biography

Angelina Shvachka is Honoured Artist of Ukraine and a principal soloist at the National Opera of Ukraine. Her repertoire includes the great Verdi roles Eboli, Amneris, Fenena, Azucena and Ulrica, the title role of Carmen, Laura La Gioconda, Suzuki Madama Butterfly, the title role of La Cenerentola, Dalila Samson et Dalila, Marina Mnishek Boris Godunov, Polina The Queen of Spades, Olga and Filipyevna Eugene Onegin, Konchakovna Prince Igor, Lyubasha The Tsar’s Bride, Princess Clarice Love for Three Oranges, a.o.

She has appeared as a guest at the Estonian National Opera, Malmö Opera Festival, Montreal Opera Festival, Bolshoi Theatre Moscow, Odessa Opera Theatre, PromFest and Birgitta Festivals in Estonia, Shalyapin Opera Festival in Kazan, Hector Berlioz Festival in St. Malo, Festival of Sacred Music at la Chaise-Dieu in France. With the National Opera of Ukraine she has toured extensively in Canada, France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Italy, France, Poland, Belgium, Slovenia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Turkey and in 2023 in Japan, performing Carmen and Beethoven's 9th Symphony.

Angelina Shvachka portrayed Catherine the Great in the film Zaporizhia Cossack Beyond Danube in 2006 (based on Hulak-Artemovsky’s opera of the same name). In concert she has performed alto parts in Verdi’s, Mozart’s, Fauré’s and Saint-Saëns’ Requiems. She graduated from the National Music Academy of Ukraine and became prizewinner of the Klaudia Taev International Competition 2004 and 2005, and received a diploma and a special prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition 2001.
