Young Ukrainian mezzo-soprano Valeria Mudra joined the ensemble of Theater Erfurt in April 2022. Her roles have included Flora La Traviata, Laura Luisa Miller, 3.Magd Elektra, Milia in Taylor's Eleni, Ismène in Rossini's Le siège de Corinthe, the title role of Gluck's Telemaco as well as Fenena Nabucco at the Domstufen Festival 2022. In the current season she is singing Mrs Sedley Peter Grimes, Flosshilde Das Rheingold, Foreign Princess Rusalka and a role in the new opera Die Stimme der Meerjungfrau by Ralph Neubert.
Until the Russian invasion in February 2022 Valeria Mudra was soloist of the Kharkiv National Opera. She performed such roles as Clarice in Rossini’s La pietra del Paragone, Mercedes Carmen, Olga Eugene Onegin, Polina The Queen of Spades, Feodor Boris Godunov, Laura and Marta Iolanta, Orfeo in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice, Prince Charming Cendrillon and Ines Il Trovatore.
Valeria Mudra obtained her diploma in 2019 from the Ukrainian National Music Academy in the class of the Honoured Artist of Ukraine, mezzo-soprano Angelina Shvachka. She has participated in a masterclass by Dolora Zajick. She won 2nd prize at the Oksana Petrusenko Competition 2013 in Kherson, 1st prize at the Ukrainian National Music Competition 2012 and diplomas at the Minsk International Christmas Competition 2015 and at the Klaudia Taev Competition 2019. She has sung solo parts in Mozart’s Requiem, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Michael Haydn’s Requiem and Alfred Schnittke’s Requiem with important orchestras, such as the Ukrainian National Philharmonic Orchestra.
