Biography

French mezzo-soprano Solenn' Lavanant is a freelance artist based in Switzerland. From 2009 to 2015 she was a resident artist at Theater Basel with a repertoire ranging from the title role of M.A.Charpentier’s Médée, Cherubino, Dorabella and Idamante to Carmen, Varvara (Katya Kabanova), Marguerite (La Damnation de Faust), Muse/Nicklausse (Les Contes d’Hoffmann) and Charlotte (Werther). As a guest artists she has performed Ottavia (L'Incoronazione di Poppea) at the Festival d'Ambronay, Penelope (Il Ritorno d'Ulisse in Patria) and L’Enfant (L’Enfant et les sortilèges) in Lausanne, Hermia (A Midsummer Night's Dream) in Mézière, Ippolita (Cavalli's Elena) at the Festival Aix-en-Provence 2013, Merione (Gluck’s Telemaco) at the Schwetzinger SWR Festival 2011 and Dido (Purcell's Dido and Aeneas) on the CD recording, which was nominated at the MIDEM Classical Awards. Solenn' Lavanant 's professional debut took place in 2007 as Dorothée (Cendrillon) in Bern, where she also sang La Prima Tromba (La Prova d'Orchestra) and Smeraldine (L'amour des trois oranges). In the season 2016/2017 she is performing Sesto (La Clemenza di Tito) at the Neues Theater Dornach, Cyrus (Händel’s Belshazzar) with the baroque orchestra Capriccio in Basel and Ilione (A.Campra’s Idoménée) at the “Festival de musique baroque française” at Schlosstheater Schönbrunn in Vienna.
