Biography

Young Ukrainian bass Serhii Moskalchuk joined the opera studio of Nationaltheater Mannheim in the autumn 2021. Among his roles are Colas Bastien und Bastienne, Bonzo Madama Butterfly, Ein Steuermann Tristan und Isolde, 2.Gralsritter Parsifal, Stimme Jakob Lenz and Kilian Der Freischütz. At Wilhelma Theater in Stuttgart he performed Leporello in a student production of Don Giovanni in 2021. Previous stage experience he gained at the Kyiv Municipal Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre in roles such as Panas in Rimsky-Korsakov’s Christmas Eve. From 2015 until 2020 he was a soloist of the opera theatre at the National Music Academy of Ukraine, where he performed Gremin and Zaretsky Eugene Onegin, Bertrand Iolanta, Sobakin The Tsar’s Bride and An old man Aleko. His concert repertoire includes Mozart’s Requiem and Moniuszko’s Litania Ostrobramska.

Serhii Moskalchuk is completing a Master study at the State University of Music and the Performing Arts Stuttgart, under the tutelage of Prof. Marion Eckstein. He graduated from the National Music Academy in Kiev in the class of Prof. Serhii Skubak in 2015. In the summer 2021 he attended the Lotte Lehmann Akademie in Perleberg and has participated in master classes with Eytan Pessen, Natale De Carolis, Simone Di Felice, Angelo Raciti, Prof. Cornelis Witthoefft and Prof. Ulrike Sonntag. He was awarded 3rd prize at the Klaudia Taev Competition 2021, 1st prize at the Lions Club Competition 2021 as well as 3rd prize at the 21st Century Art Competition 2013 in Worsel. In 2022 he received 3rd Prize and two special prizes at the Zinka Milanov Competition and reached the finals in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg.
