Young Ukrainian baritone Oleh Lebedyev joined the NRW Opernstudio in the autumn 2021. Last season he performed Morales Carmen at Musiktheater im Revier in Gelsenkirchen, Schaunard (cover) La Bohème at Aalto Theater in Essen and Samuel The Pirates of Pensanze in Wuppertal. His new roles this season are Silvano Un ballo in maschera, Barone Douphol La Traviata, Graf Lamoral Arabella in Essen, Bosun Billy Budd and Cavaliere di Belfiore Un giorno di regno in Gelsenkirchen. In September 2022 he appeared in the role of René in Andreas Tarkmann’s opera Didos Geheimnis in the Christuskirche in Hannover.
2019-2021 he was a young soloist at the Centre de Perfeccionament Placido Domingo at Palau de Les Arts Reina Sofia in Valencia. There he could sing roles such as Belcore in L’elisir d’amore, Enrico in M. Garcia’s L´Isola disabitata, Fabrizio in V. Martin y Soler’s Il Tutore Burlato as well as roles in F. Poulenc’s Les Mamelles de Tiresias.
Oleh Lebedyev obtained his Bachelor’s degree from the National Music Academy of Ukraine, in 2019. In student productions he performed Malatesta in Don Pasquale, Conte Asdrubale in Rossini’s La pietra del paragone, Marchese/Barone in La Traviata, Zaretsky in Eugene Onegin, Conte Ceprano in Rigoletto, Bob in The old Maid and the Thief, Sprecher in Die Zauberflöte and Talpa in Il Tabarro.
His current voice teachers are Raul Giménez and Eytan Pessen. He has received coaching from Placido Domingo, Carlo Rizzi, Carlos Chausson, Roger Vignoles, Stefano Montanari, Carmen Santoro, Andrei Bondarenko, Claudia Barainsky, Olga Pasiecznik, Simone Ori, Bogdan Makal, Enedina Lloris, Isabella Klosinska, Matthias Rexroth, Roberta Salsi, Ruben Fernández, Stanislav Angelov, David DQ Lee, Gudrun Pelker, Elena Batoukova-Kerl. He reached the finals and became the special prize of Teatro Real at the Concorso Lirico Ottavio Ziino 2021 and won 1st Prize at the International Vocal Competition of Halina Slonicka 2018 in Poland.
