Biography

Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar (born 1988) studied at the Mongolian State University of Culture and the Arts 2005-2010. He joined the Buryat State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre in Ulan-Ude, Russia in 2014, where he has performed Renato in Un Ballo in Maschera, Scarpia in Tosca, Di Luna in Il Trovatore and Escamillo in Carmen.

In 2015, Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar performed at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow and at the Cadogan Hall in London, he sang Yeletsky from Tchaikovsky’s Queen of Spades at the Buckingham Palace for the Royal family. During 2016, he performed the roles of Escamillo in Carmen and Scarpia in Tosca at the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg. He appeared with the Mariinsky Orchestra under the baton of Valery Gergiev at Carnegie Hall. He also performed for the 60th General Assembly of the World Federation of International Music Competitions in Yerevan, Armenia.

Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar received the prize “Best Baritone of the Competition” and the Pavel Lisitsian Prize at the 24th Glinka Competition 2011 in Moscow. He was nominated as the best singer in Mongolia 2012. He won 1st prize in the III.Muslim Magomaev International Competition in Moscow 2014 and 1st prize and the Grand Prix at the International Tchaikovsky Competition 2015. He won the Song Prize at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition 2017. He has received the awards Honored Artist of Mongolia and Honored Artist of the Buryat Republic, Russia.
