Biography

In the position of Chief Conductor of Landestheater Detmold Lutz Rademacher has succeeded to give new impulses to the musical life of the town with innovative concert formats and ambitious musical theatre. Since the beginning of his term in 2013 he has brought such operas as Jenufa, Elektra and Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg to the repertoire. Contemporary works Written on Skin by George Benjamin and Sogno d’un mattino di primavera by Alexander Muno were premiered in Detmold by him. His repertoire includes operas and orchestral works from baroque to contemporary, a.o. Der Freischütz, Salome, Die Fledermaus and Der Zigeunerbaron, Tristan und Isolde and Die Walküre, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, On the town by Bernstein, Carmen, Martha, Serse, Semele and Jeptha by Händel, Hänsel und Gretel, Les Contes d’Hoffmann and Orphée aux enfers, Die Teufel von Loudon by Penderecki, L’amour des trois oranges by Prokofiev, numerous Mozart, Puccini and Verdi operas.

Lutz Rademacher began his career as a conductor at Theater Basel (2003-2007) and Theater Freiburg (2007-2009). He has appeared as a guest conductor at Salzburger Festspiele with the production Judith, at Musiktheater im Revier in Gelsenkirchen with Manfred Trojahn’s La Grande Magia, at Vlaamse Opera and Komische Oper Berlin, with Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and Neue Philharmonie Westfalen.
A graduate of Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg, Lutz Rademacher participated in masterclasses at the Dirigentenforum of Deutscher Musikrat and at Accademia Chigiana.
